If you’re not ready to take care of a newborn and don’t have anyone
to ask for help, there’s a place where you can take your baby to ensure his or her safety and health. – A SAFE HAVEN

ALL HOSPITALS in Pennsylvania are Safe Havens. They are there to protect your
baby if you are not able to care for the baby properly. All you have to do is bring
your newborn (up to 28 days old) to a hospital and drop it off. That’s all.
As long as the baby is unharmed and not a victim of any crime, you will not be
in any trouble.
No one will ask you any questions, no one will judge you and no one will say
a word about your baby. In fact, you don’t even have to give your name or address.
You can provide medical information for the baby. But you don’t have to
answer any questions.
To speak to someone about the Safe Haven Program or just to talk to someone,
call us confidentially at 1-866-921-SAFE (7233).
While you’re pregnant, we encourage you to seek care for you and your
baby to ensure a safe delivery. For prenatal care, call the Healthy Baby Helpline at
1-800-986-BABY (2229) and they can help you get information about medical providers
and health care coverage. These services are free and kept confidential.
